Different types of artificial turf

When you start the process of choosing the best synthetic lawn for your home, you should to take into consideration the quality of the synthetic lawn. The heavier the face weight (amount of material per square yard), the more abuse the synthetic lawn can withstand and the longer it will last. Be cautious when you are choosing which type of synthetic lawn to install, as some brands can look very inexpensive.

There are three types of synthetic lawns to be aware of:

·       Polypropylene

·       Polyethylene

·       Nylon

Polypropylene synthetic lawn is the least expensive, which makes it the synthetic lawn that majority of homeowners looking for a good deal will choose. Unfortunately, this is not the greatest purchasing decision; polypropylene synthetic lawns have a low melting point, and will always wear out faster and easier than any of the other materials you have to choose from. This polypropylene synthetic lawn is used mostly for golf putting greens.

Polyethylene synthetic lawns are known for its softer texture, more natural looks in a home landscaping. This type of synthetic lawn widely used on sports fields and landscape design. The high quality polyethylene synthetic lawn is perfect for your yard with its look and feel of a high cost, high maintenance and water gulping natural “real lawn”. With a polyethylene synthetic lawn you can’t go wrong.

Nylon synthetic lawns are the strongest available. It can retain its original shape despite withstanding high temperatures and weight. Nylon synthetic lawns are also used for putting greens due to its durability and ability to create the perfect environment for practicing your putt as if you were on your favorite green, such as those at Pebble Beach. Nylon synthetic lawns are not used often for landscaping because of the higher cost and the stiffness of the pile (grass fiber and height). It can however, be used to improve overall strength and stability of a higher end synthetic lawn products.  If you are not concerned with or don’t mind the price tag of installing nylon synthetic lawn, it won’t feel like the soft green grass you are used to between your toes. Nylon synthetic lawns are best when used for putting greens in the backyard.
